Scoring

How fantasy points are actually counted.

The scoring system rewards specific match events — runs, wickets, catches, strike-rate and economy bonuses. We walk through each event and the points it converts to.

Batting

Batting points — runs, boundaries, milestones.

Batting points are the cleanest scoring rule in fantasy cricket. You score runs, you get points. Boundaries and milestones add bonuses. Strike-rate adds another bonus layer for the batters who score fast.

EventPoints
1 run+1
Boundary (4)+4
Six (6)+6
Half-century (50)+4
Century (100)+8
Duck (0)-2
A batter completing a technically correct boundary stroke in a night match
Stumps disturbed by a clean bowling delivery, ball and bails physically correct
Bowling

Bowling points — wickets, economy, milestones.

Bowling points are the highest-yield per-event in fantasy cricket. A wicket is 25 points. A bowled or LBW is 33. Three-wicket and five-wicket hauls add bonuses. Economy adds another bonus layer for bowlers who keep it tight.

EventPoints
Wicket+25
LBW / bowled bonus+8
Maiden over+4
3-wicket haul+4
5-wicket haul+8
Fielding

Fielding points — the cheapest source of points.

Fielding points are the most under-used source of fantasy points. A catch is worth 8 points — that's 8 points for an action that happens outside the main role of most players. Run-outs are 12. Stumpings are 12.

  • Catch: +8 points
  • 3-catch bonus: +4 points
  • Stumping: +12 points
  • Run-out (direct): +12 points
  • Run-out (catcher / thrower): +6 / +6 points

Captain & vice-captain

The 2x and 2.5x multiplier.

The captaincy multiplier is the biggest scoring decision you make. Pick your captain from the highest-ceiling player on the surface. The vice-captain absorbs the captain's slack.

2x

Captain

Earns double the base points. Pick from ceiling.

1.5x

Vice-captain

Earns 1.5x base points. Pick from a different role.

1x

Other 9

Standard base points. Build the role balance.

Bonus & penalty events

The bonus-and-penalty layer.

Beyond the per-event points, the scoring system layers bonuses for strike-rate, economy, milestones and team wins — and penalties for ducks and high-economy spells.

Strike-rate bonus (batters)

  • SR ≥ 170: +6
  • SR 150-170: +4
  • SR 130-150: +2
  • SR 50-70: -2
  • SR < 50: -4

Economy bonus (bowlers)

  • ER < 5: +6
  • ER 5-6: +4
  • ER 6-7: +2
  • ER 10-11: -2
  • ER > 11: -4
FAQ

What readers ask the desk most often.

Are scoring rules the same on every fantasy product?

No — scoring rules differ across operators. Always check the operator's published scoring system before you build an XI.

What is the most under-used scoring event?

Fielding. A catch is worth 8 points, and most fantasy readers don't pick for it.

Do captain points compound with milestones?

Yes — the 2x captain multiplier compounds with half-century, century, three-wicket and five-wicket bonuses.

How do I learn the scoring rules quickly?

Read the operator's scoring page once before your first XI. The rules are short and worth memorising.

Memorise the scoring rules before the next XI.
